I grew up with the mindset that if you're going to do something, do it well. I played many sports and became highly successful in 4 of them, including billiards where I became a billiards instructor by accident in 1999 as other players began asking me to help them with their game.
Teaching and coaching have been a part of my life since I was a teenager. I became a billiards instructor by accident in 1999 as other players began asking me to help them with their game and it turned out to be the most pivotal point in my pool playing journey.
Since then I have I've learned so much from my personal mentor, Randy Goettlicher, and other great master instructors including Jerry Brieseth, who started the PBIA in the 90's, Dr Dave Alciatore, Bob Jewett, and the late Scott Lee. In addition, I volunteer and serve in ministries alongside Steve Lillis (Gospel Trick Shot Ministries), Mike Masse (Artistic Pool World Champion), and Tom "Dr Cue" Rossman ( Artistic Pool World Champion and founder of R.A.C.K - Recreational Ambassadors for Christ's Kingdom).
Serving my community and being generous is part of who I am. Because I've been blessed in the corporate world, one of my priorities is to provide the highest level of instruction at costs that every player can afford. I know there's an adage that says "You get what you pay for", but in my world ("Value") is determined by proportionally receiving more at less of a cost and Value is what I want to provide to everyone.
I am a strong supporter of Junior Billiards programs and have been involved working with kids as young as 6 years old over the past 10 years. I've volunteered at the University of Texas at Arlington's monthly junior clinics, as well as supporting Corner 4 Billiards, and competition teams out of Iowa & Nebraska. Kids are always welcome, and I also have more condensed lessons suitable for the learning style and attention span for our youth.
Pool and Billiards players form not only what I call a tremendous community but what many of us perceive as family! Unlike most sports, organized instruction was virtually unheard of 20-30 years ago. Since then, the likes of Jerry Briesath, Mark Wilson, Randy Goettlicher, the Billiard Congress of America (BCA), American Poolplayer's Association (APA), and American Cue Sports (ACS) have made great strides in formulating tried and true curriculum to teaching players how to play the game right, and how to play it well. It is my honor to be sharing what I can with my family all over the country.
Just some of what each student will learn from Trinity Billiards
Trinity Billiards was officially formed in 2019 when Larry Nicholson became a certified PBIA Instructor. Larry grew up competing in a variety of sports of which Larry either became a professional/semi-pro in sports such as Baseball, Bowling, Football and since has become an accomplished amateur player in Billiards. Larry in his early career coached bowling, baseball, softball in addition to billiards. Larry has a background in business management, psychology, and information technology where he utilizes detail-oriented analytical skills to disseminate information and solve problems.
Larry started coaching billiards in 2001 when a variety of amateur players approached Larry for advice and instruction and Larry has been teaching ever since. Larry has been an avid participant in several organized leagues, since 1999 including the BCA, VNEA, ACS, TAP, NAPA and the “APA”.
It is the vision of Trinity Billiards to become one of the foremost academies available to the amateur pool players by allowing players to gain the knowledge, skills, and fundamentals to play their best, increasing their motivation, the amount of fun they have, and their dedication to remaining an active participant in cue sports for years to come.

Larry is particularly fond of the APA because of the dire need for amateur players to have experienced role models involved to help guide their path to excellence. Many players that excel in the APA frequently expand into other more competitive, non-handicap leagues.
Although Larry has participated in many of these leagues, his desire to remain with the APA is rooted by his intent to serve the APA community by remaining an established staple in the amateur community where good coaching and instruction are desperately needed. Larry has achieved the highest skill levels possible (SL-7 8-ball and SL-9 9-ball) and participated in nearly every APA National event including the US Amateur Championships.
Because our primary source of income is outside billiards, Trinity Billiards provides the best instruction by a Master Level instructor at the most reasonable costs.
Trinity Billiards has already provided coaching, lessons, instruction, and workshops for over a thousand students. To date nobody has provided negative feedback on content or curriculum. Group or Individual classes provide an easy-to-understand format geared to students of all abilities.
